Today’s reading is in Luke 19:1-27
As the sun comes up this Thursday morning, we can be thankful for many things. Let me encourage you to have a conversation today with someone about all the things you can be most thankful for.
Luke shares with us the familiar story of the little guy named Zacchaeus. Zacchaeus lived the life of a short man: always on his tippy toes, always looked over, and always the last one picked for the playground games. As he grew up, maybe that’s what led him to feel he had to take a little extra off the top as he collected people’s taxes.
Tax collectors were despised, hated; but one day someone came to town and created quite the stir. Most amazing was that the popular sought after Jesus actually looked over everyone else and paid singular attention to the needy heart of Zacchaeus.
Jesus, drove through the crowd to get to this little guy. Jesus invited himself into his life. Jesus entered his home as a friend. Jesus walked out as his Lord and King. Take time to read this familiar story and then spend some time saying “thank you” for all Jesus has done for you.
