What if we could bring about change in our country?
What if Renee Good and Alex Pretti were still alive? (What needs to happen to learn from their deaths?)
What if we all had the humility to look inward for what we could do differently instead of pointing the finger of blame at everyone else?
What if we all obeyed the laws?
What if there was perfect justice? Perfect laws? Perfect enforcement of those laws? (Okay, this is a fanciful wish, but shouldn’t it be our goal?)
What if everyone entered the country according to the law? (We would be free of this current saga and on to the next challenge.)
What if the cases of those who entered the country illegally are handled lawfully and consistently? (We could assume this is the case most of the time, but when and where it’s not, what’s the appropriate recourse?)
What if agitators and obstructors found an effective and legal way to protest?
What if authorities encouraged people not to agitate and obstruct but pursue effective and legal ways to promote following and carrying out the law?
What if ICE could do its job perfectly? (Would that result in no agitators or obstructors?)
What if ICE didn’t have to face agitators and obstructors? (They could do their jobs much more efficiently and there would be less risk of deaths for officers and those who no longer agitate and obstruct.)
What if those in government positions demanded that there be accountability for breaking the law? Accountability for every government official at the local, state, and federal levels to do their job well? Accountability for working together to follow the laws?
What if we all held ourselves accountable to do what the law calls us to do, from the person on the federal level to the concerned citizens?
What if this current situation wasn’t political but instead a problem to solve?
What if those in government positions who disagree could sit down and do some problem-solving and agree on ways to move forward?
What if these questions didn’t serve to trigger us, but helped us think and pray and work for resolution?
What if Christians looked more like Jesus and less like Tim Walz or Donald Trump? (Feel free to put any name you like to that question that better represents the two sides of this cultural divide. The point is, regardless of which side you align more with, Jesus is a much better choice to model our words and steps after.)
What if Christians were driven most by Scripture and living like Jesus instead of allegiance to a political tribe?
What if Christians could hurt for those who lost their life and their families, regardless of the “side” they are on?
What if we as Christians, could love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us? (I have seen Christians find this tone and response in the past, and I’m praying we would have it both with each other in the Body of Christ and with those outside of Christianity.)
What if Christians were known for their prayer and their love instead of their posts and their platforms?
What if Christians instead of sharing our angle on the news, thoughtfully and prayerfully shared The Good News?
What if…
