Worship Matters
2 Corinthians 9
The worship through giving seen in Numbers 7 is a blessing to see unfold. Each tribe bringing the fruit of the labor of their hands -not out of obligation or compulsion, giving as an act of gratuitous worship.
They were unified together with a focus of bringing God glory and at the same time meeting a need for worship at the tabernacle. Paul in 2 Corinthians 8-9 shares a similar testimony about the churches he has been in and challenges us to be worshipers that grow in our giving.
The most striking thing Paul challenges my heart about is the spirit we have in worship and in giving as worship. He calls it “cheerful”. I have given cheerfully and I have given reluctantly – there is no worship in reluctant giving. My desire is to give with this spirit of worship -its prayerful, its in honor, its faithful, its led by God, its not always giddy (but sometimes it is), and often when we reflect on our gift and that we are giving it in light of His tremendous grace He has shown – its with praise and thanksgiving that opens up sweeter fellowship.
Enjoy Paul’s take as you read 2 Corinthians 9 today and lets seek God for this heart of worship – It Matters!
